Spreading some Christmas cheer!

Christmas is my favorite time of year.   I love everything about it:  the celebration of Christ's birth, time with family and friends, the sights and sounds, the traditions, the parties and decorating the house.   It seems like everyone is starting to decorate earlier and earlier.  Right before Thanksgiving, throughout my neighborhood I saw combinations of  christmas garland/wreaths and forgotten pumpkins.  It was a first!!   I guess it's never too early to spread some Christmas cheer :-)

"Babydolls" and French Laundry

Ava has a couple of favorite, traditional baby dolls.  However, lately she's dubbed other items as baby dolls, like squishy balls and tennis balls?!   She insisted on taking her squishy "babydoll" (aka Angel) to church today and wanted me to take a picture of them -- I was happy to oblige!

I have a passion for decorating and can't really describe my style.  I guess it's transitional/eclectic, as I like many styles: shabby chic, nantucket/coastal, classic traditional, french cottage, and some urban loft, etc. I saw these "vintage" pillows by French Laundry and just love them.   I could certainly curl up in this bed with a cup of tea and a good book.

Hope everyone has a great week and tomorrow is March 1st!!!
Yay, spring is just around the corner :-)

Decorating for Christmas...

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love celebrating the reason for the season, the traditions, and time with family and friends. I love to decorate the house too! I'm juggling getting settled in, but want our home to feel like Christmas, especially for Jake and Ava. Here's a little sneak peek!

Ava's Big Girl Room

We moved 2.5 weeks ago....since Jake got our old bed, Jake handed his bed down to Ava.   With a new coat of white paint, it has become a girly girl bed.  Her room is a work in progress, as is her Christmas tree, but here is a sneak peek!
My creation
I want to find some green Waverly fabric like the pillow to cover her stool at the foot of the bed.

Here's her little tree! I want to add a few European glass ornaments to finish it off.

Show Us Where You Live Friday - Master Bedrooms

It's time again for Kelly's Korner, Show Us Where You Live F-R-I-D-A-Y. Happy Friday and welcome to our master bedroom.

I wanted a monogrammed cornice board, so I set up an "S" and partial laurel wreath on the computer, printed it, cut it out and glued it on. Simple and quick. Also, I couldn't find a headboard I liked, so I used a screen/room divider!

The black armoire was an ugly ready to assemble cabinet we bought at Wally World. I covered in wallpaper, painted it black and changed the hardware. When people see it, they think it's leather.

Show Us Where You Live Friday - Bathrooms

This is for Leslie. She keeps telling me I need to post pics of my bathroom (she's very kind). I thought this would be a good time to do so, since today is...
Show us Where You Live Friday - Bathroom Edition!

We live in an old house. Even though the bathroom was recently renovated, it was renovated to look old!

Show us where you live Friday - Children's Room

Kelly over at Kelly's Korner hosts a "Show Us Where You Live" segment on Fridays. The theme this week is children's rooms. This is my daughter Ava's room...

This little stool was in my grandparent's house. A little paint, fabric
and trim and Ava has a new addition to her room.
Purchased some pink fabric that I used in various places throughout the room. Bought some inexpensive panels from Target (my mom added the pink fabric at the top to coordinate with the matching shade she also made under the cornice board on the opposite window.) I painted the little armoire in the corner to match the window treatment fabric.
